Doctoral Colloquium
In November 2018, the Icelandic Centre for Retail Studies and the Institute of Economic Studies, University of Iceland, will host the 3rd NRWC Doctoral Colloquium.
As with past conferences, the aim of the colloquium is to provide PhD students professional skills for their academic careers. To achieve it, participants will present their dissertation projects and discuss other student’s research. Participants will get the opportunity to listen to lectures from renowned scholars, about research in the field of retail and wholesale, gaining new insights and experiences from senior scholars.
As networking is an important aim, the colloquium offers an opportunity for participants to grow their academic network. Here, PhD students meet their peers from different Nordic countries, establishing, or maintaining, relationships with other young Nordic scholars within the field of retailing and wholesaling. An international network that will prove valuable throughout their academic career.
The NRWC Doctoral Colloquium will take place on 7 November 2018 and is open for doctoral students (at different stages of their project) taking part in the NRWC conference at Saga Hótel on 8-9 November 2018 (see separate call for papers). The colloquium will start at 9:00 and it ends with a reception in the evening, together with the main conference participants.
Those wishing to participate are asked to send in an application, which should include a brief motivation on how the colloquium would be important for you in developing your research, by 1 September 2018. The number of participants is limited, and the selection will be based on your motivation as well as the fit between your research interest and NRWC. Applicants will be notified about acceptance no later than 15 September 2018. If accepted, you are required to submit a 5-page description of your PhD project plus a list of 10 key references by 13 October 2018. Each participant is expected to present their own work and function as an opponent on two other presentations.
Please send your application via e-mail to nrwc2018@rsv.is no later than September 1st 2018. Project descriptions will be distributed to the other participants well in advance of the colloquium on order for opponents (and other participants) to prepare their discussion points.
