Doctoral colloquium

In 2016, the Department of Management at Aarhus University will host the 2nd NRWC Doctoral Colloquium.

The aim of the colloquium is to provide PhD students with professional skills for their academic career. In addition, the colloquium provides an arena for networking and relationship building among young Nordic scholars within the field of retailing and wholesaling, ensuring that the region can provide high quality research for the future.

At this year’s colloquium, PhD students will get an opportunity to present their PhD project and get qualified feedback from two opponents (fellow PhD students). A senior researcher will function as facilitator of the discussions. Dependent on the number of participating PhD students, one or two groups will be formed to ensure a more focused process and sufficient time for discussing each PhD project. In addition, a renowned scholar from the research field will give a presentation on some of the challenges PhD students face during their PhD project.

Networking is an important aim. Here, PhD students will meet their peers from different Nordic countries and start or continue building their international network that will be valuable throughout their academic career.

The NRWC Doctoral Colloquium will take place on 8 November 2016 and is open to doctoral students (at different stages of their project) taking part in the NRWC conference at Aarhus University on 9-10 November 2016 (see separate call for papers). The colloquium will start at 9:30 and end with a reception in the evening together with the main conference participants.

To participate, please send an application including a brief motivation on why the doctoral colloquium would be important for you in developing your research by 1 September 2016. The number of participants is limited and the selection will be based on your motivation as well as the fit between your research interest and NRWC. Applicants will be notified about acceptance no later than 15 September 2016. If accepted, you are required to submit a 5-page description of your PhD project plus a list of 10 key references by 15 October 2016. Each participant is expected to present their own work and function as opponent on two other presentations.

Please send your application by e-mail to nrwc2016@mgmt.au.dk no later than 1 September, 2016. Project descriptions will be distributed to the other participants well in advance of the colloquium in order for opponents (and other participants) to prepare their discussion points.
